2. Nai Sarak – Place of Wisdom
Nai Sarak means new street and serves as a conduit between the main Chandni Chowk Road and Chawri Road. It is one of the biggest wholesale and retail markets of the country and the shops mainly sell college and school textbooks. The street got its name after the British made a broad new road after the 1857 war. The street is lined with double-storey buildings constructed during the early 20th century. The lower storey of these buildings provides books for children or medical textbooks in various languages.
