India, despite its rich heritage and cultural treasure, remains a country where instances of violence against women and rape are on the rise. The issues like stubborn patriarchal values, superstition, inter religious clashes are responsible for this. Sadly the majority of rape cases are committed in India by people known to the victim, as studies have indicated.
