Democracy On A Global Scale

Democracy Day

Democracy as research has shown that the longer a country resorts to following a democratic form of government, the better it performs. And this case is true amongst both developing and developed countries alike and this can be seen all across the world with India, Brazil, South Africa, Turkey and Indonesia are proof that of the successful relationship between form of government and both economic and social progress. These countries alone have over the last 20 odd years or so, made great advancements like:

  • In 1985, after 21 years of military dictatorship, Brazil finally achieved its democracy
  • India, with the help of its 1991 economic reforms help transform to a system that help attain consistent growth
  • With the freedom of Nelson Mandela, South Africa saw the end of apartheid and saw the rise of democracy within the nation

The countries alone are proof that you don’t need to be a developed country to attain the goals of development and prosperity, rather something simple as just listening to the words of your own people will help fuel the country in ways never seen before. So that people like John around the world can prosper and be proud citizens of a democratic country. And, the need to be is as great as ever. What do you think?
