Sushma Swaraj lashed back at the comments made by Sonia Gandhi who said she was “an expert in theatrics”. However, due to her defiant outburst against Sonia Gandhi, it would seem that she is just trying to turn this scandal of her doing a favour to Lalit Modi into a soap opera. Not only does she try to melt the stoniest heart, but she also attempts to take the story to a melodramatic climax when she says in Hindi, “Agar is tarah ki mahila ki madat karna gunah hai toh haan maine gunah kia hai, agar ek mahila ki madad karna apraadh hai, to haan maine ye apraadh kia hai,” which basically means ‘If helping a woman like this is crime then I have committed a crime’.
