Following the mention that Narendra Modi made of his work in his Wembley speech, Khan started to receive worldwide attention and recognition. In line with that, the Rajasthan government too has now offered him the post of an Officer in the Science and Technology department of their government. Khan, on his part, has said that he is honored by the Rajasthan government’s offer – however, he is yet to take a decision regarding whether he would accept the offer or not.

BSNL’s Offer of Free Internet for Life

Following on from the recognition received from other quarters, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has offered Imran Khan free internet service and facility to help with his app creation. Rather than being just a one-off move – it would be good if this kind of move also inspires millions of other people in rural India that could also potentially participate in the exercise of creating and transforming our children’s educational materials by way of the creation of such apps.

A Very Modest Over Achiever

What is truly noteworthy – is that Imran Khan’s response to all the attention and offers that have been coming his way has been very modest and self-effacing. If you truly realized the significance of what he has been able to achieve, it is staggering to think that he could be so modest about it all. After all, we are so used to being swamped with offers from all kinds of sellers of expensive apps on the internet. And to think that someone like Imran Khan could actually create 52 such apps – and then give them all out for free!

Imran Khan’s achievements also show much of a demand there is in the children’s education space for the kinds of mobile apps he has designed and made famous. We hope that future generations of Indian teachers and App developers will dedicate that kind of energy and commitment towards transforming our educational system as a whole – so that all educational resources then become accessible to one and all, regardless of the language we speak.
