8. Sarojini Naidu
Famously called the ‘Nightingale of India’, this poet and social activist participated in India’s freedom movement. She travelled to different states delivering speeches on social welfare and spreading the message of Independence. She was the first woman to become Governor of an Indian state and of the Indian National Congress.
